About the Site

Where is the site?

The site is centrally located in Lower Stondon, accessed from Station Road. It adjoins existing residential development to the north, north-east and west and occupies around 89 acres.

Why here?

The site is in a location that could provide convenient access to education, local shops, health and recreation facilities.

The potential for key social infrastructure such as a primary school, community centre and home-working hub, together with new cycle and pedestrian links, will increase accessibility to existing residential areas close to the site.

As part of any potential proposals, we would ensure that wherever possible trees are retained and the landscape is enhanced to encourage a thriving new habitat.

Why now?

At this stage, all ideas are conceptual. Central Bedfordshire Council have commenced work on a new Local Plan and they intend to launch a ‘call for sites’ consultation later this year.

Bloor Homes own the land at Mount Pleasant Golf Course and will be participating in future Local Plan consultations and progression.

As part of this, we want local people to engage with us and share your thoughts on how the redevelopment of the golf course can deliver homes for all, but most importantly on how we can best utilise the open-space provision on what is currently privately owned land.

Perhaps your view is that Lower Stondon needs more community spaces, could there be another community building in Lower Stondon? Or is there perhaps a need for an early-years centre or primary school?
